Come Do Art!

Saturday, January 26th
11am-6pm
Free to anyone who wants to be creative!

Come to Confluence Arts to make life size paper mache figures with Nicole. Confluence will use these models to display jewelry, clothing, and more. This will be a fun, community activity. We'll try to make them as "realistic" and colorful as possible.

This Saturday we will focus on creating the forms and adding paper mache. Check out these images for inspiration!

Anonymous

January 12 through March 16
Opening reception: January 12, 4-8pm

10 x 10 defines the Anonymous exhibit opening January 12 at Confluence Gallery. Each work will be 10” x 10”. $10 x 10 is the cost of each piece; a nice round $100. And artists can submit up to 10 pieces of 10 x 10 artwork. As for the anonymous part, no artist’s name will be revealed until the piece has sold.

The strict requirements present a challenge for artists, and translate to an intriguing exhibit for viewers. Curator Nicole Ringgold questions how and why we purchase art. Is the artist’s notoriety a consideration? Is the artist local? How does the price factor into the equation? How do artists adapt to working within a 100 square inch format? Confluence is putting these questions to the test with Anonymous.

The exhibit includes paintings, photography, encaustic work, sculptures, mixed media, mosaics, and more. The parameters furnish a level playing field to artists. Work won’t be associated with a name, but will be judged on its own merits. It should be fun for viewers to try and solve the mystery of who created what based on style and technique. For art collectors this could be the opportunity of a lifetime… if you know what to look for.

Also on display and for sale will be drawings by public school fourth and fifth grade children to help fund their spring science expedition to the North Cascades Institute. These works are shown through the collaborative efforts of Methow Arts and the Public School Funding Alliance.
